The 1940s mansion has drawn guests through its powder-pink walls for decades, thanks to the impeccable service & a restaurant hailed as the best on the island.

HUGH & SAM GODSAL
Hugh and his wife, Sam, oversee Cobblers & are closely involved in the ethos and running of the place.
JOANNA ROTERBERG - GENERAL MANAGER
Joanna joined Cobblers Cove in August 2020 &, under her leadership, the hotel continues to shine & flourish. She has assembled first class managers in all departments & has established an excellent sense of teamwork amongst the staff. Her charm, warmth, high standards & attention to detail make her an ideal match for Cobblers.
THE WEATHER
We have glorious year-round sunshine, a typical temperature of 28-29 degrees & almost no season variation, so there’s never a bad time to visit, the days constantly sunny, the evenings balmy. The highest rainfall occurs from July to October when the island is at its most lush & luminous, the sea at its clearest & most sparkling. Tropical rainstorms sometimes occur, but hurricanes generally follow land mass & thus usually avoid Barbados which is 150 miles off the chain of Caribbean islands. We were last hit by a serious hurricane in 1955.
OUR ENVIRONMENT
Local craftsmen, carpenters, artists, metalworkers & basket makers provide our furniture & fittings. We offer locally bottled Eco Sky water, distilled & bottled here, with zero emissions, from some of the purest air on earth. Our luxurious botanical toiletries are produced nearby in St Lucy, we collect rain water for our gardens & use solar panels for warm water. Given that we work hard to source as much of everything as possible locally - about 70% of the food on your tables is gown on the island itself, we request your understanding that we do not offer long-distance food items such as strawberries, oysters, or salmon. Please also try to help us protect this delicate eco-system by being considerate in your choice of sun tan lotion: Reef-friendly ones will protect our reefs & therefore the island itself.
THE STAFF
The warmth & charm of our staff is a central part of Cobblers. Returning guests are greeted by name, your favourite cocktail & how you take your coffee all remembered.
THE Gardens
The gardens are one of the many reasons guests return to Cobblers year after year.
Creative Director
Sam works closely on the refurbishment of the buildings, the gardens, menus, art collection, chinaware, fabrics & furniture as well as on the range of products in the boutique.
On your bookshelf you will find books by the best writers of the region & on your walls original artworks from the island. In the bathroom are luxurious island botanical products & the basket ware has been not only woven but actually grown less than five miles from here.
Your water is distilled from the air of the island & the ceramics were created from the clay of the island at both Earthworks & Highland Potteries. The prints on the fabrics in your suite were inspired by island vegetation & created by local island artists as were the patterns for the restaurant china.
All around the hotel you will see the work of distinguished island artists & in the evenings at the bar you will hear the best of the island’s musicians so that the very best of Barbados is brought to Cobblers.

A Brief History
The Great House was built in the 1940’s, on the site of an old Quaker Battery Station, using the steel of the old island railway for its structure & solid coral stone for cladding. Known as Camelot & once a sea side retreat for the Hayes family, it was sold in 1968 to the Godsal family who renamed it Cobblers Cove after the frigate birds which fly around the bay.
By the 1980s, Cobblers was well established as a luxury boutique hotel with a reputation for fine food . Cobblers has now been a much-loved, family-owned hotel for over fifty years, our popularity owing as much to our two beaches & spectacular gardens as to the charm of our long serving staff.
The Great House, built in 1943, is a gracious coral stone building that retains all its original character with high ceilings, bay windows & plantation shutters.
